💇🏻‍♀️ I have an obsession with donating my hair 💜

In December 2010 I randomly decided to donate 12 inches of my hair to Locks of Love

In early 2011 I learned I was actually losing my hair. I was diagnosed with alopecia areata and in a matter of 6 months, I lost the majority of the hair on the crown of my scalp. Not only did I lose my hair, but I also lost a lot of confidence. I hardly had any self-esteem and I honestly strongly considered purchasing a wig. I was referred to a rheumatologist, dermatologist and endocrinologist and based on all of my symptoms, was ultimately diagnosed with Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease (UCTD).

After about 2 years of treatment, I went into remission and all my hair had grown back (funny colors at first, but it came back)!

Getting sick and having to experience sudden/significant hairloss was incredibly embarrassing and also terrifying to me as a 19 year old female. Once I became healthy again, I made it a goal to grow out my hair to be able to donate it again. Fortunately, I've been blessed to be able to donate a few times since then.

March 2014: I was able to donate 12 inches to Locks of Love

February 2019: 10 inches to Children with Hair Loss

June 2021: 10.5 inches to Children with Hair Loss

March 2023: 8.5 inches to Children with Hair Loss

I hope that donating my hair can be a way to help someone else feel confident again 🙏

Would you believe me if I told you that my belt bag is actually a thoughtfully designed full-blown DIAPER BAG?? After several doctor's visits and referrals to an allergist, we finally have an answer to what happened last month 🙏🏼 Easton has an egg allergy.

On January 8th, Easton had eaten pancakes and scrambled eggs for breakfast. He had had bits of scrambled egg in the past, so I didn't give it a second thought. Also, his scary "episode" didn't happen until an hour later, so at the time, we didn't really consider eggs to be the cause. On top of that, his symptoms (vomited, went limp, turned blue, went unresponsive) didn't scream *allergic reaction* to me. No external swelling. No rashes or hives.

When we did finally learn that egg was the culprit, I even told the allergist how confused I was. I was like, "I'VE SEEN 𝘔𝘺 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭 AND THIS WASN'T LIKE 𝘔𝘺 𝘎𝘪𝘳𝘭". She reminded me that Hollywood is good at embellishing things, including anaphylaxis 😅 Sooo I learned something new and needless to say, we have an EpiPen with us wherever we go now 🙃

Thank you for everyone's kind words, thoughts and prayers. So incredibly grateful for modern medicine and I feel like I can finally sleep at night now that we have answers.

If we just have to avoid eggs, we can do that -- they're hella expensive rn anyways 😜 PLUS most kids outgrow an egg allergy by the time they're adults, yay!🤞🏼

I'm forever proud of this little girl for her constant strength and resilience 🤍

Thanks to the harness, Eva's hips no longer dislocate and she will have a normal childhood and adulthood. She can play all the sports she wants to, without limitations. She can run as fast as she wants to. She can swim and hike and dance and jump without worries or limitations.

If you're a parent of a child with DDH and you feel overwhelmed, know that you're not alone, that it WILL get better, and that it's all SO worth it! Pat yourself on the back for being such an amazing parent to advocate for your baby and give them the care that they need and that they deserve!
